Cans of The Year Awards: A global industry event
The first summit took place in 1988 and has since then traveled all over the world: Japan, United Arab Emirates, Hongkong, South and North America and various European cities. Only 2020 made for an exception since there could not be a physical event due to the global pandemic. Instead of that metal packaging producers were allowed to physically send in their products in the run-up to the event. Out of all these transmittals an independent jury selected the Gold, Silver and Bronze winners for every single category.
Envases makes it to the winner’s rostrum!
Envases sent its five-litre keg ‘Original Stormtroopers’ in the race for the ‘Beverage Three-Piece’ category, which more precisely means three-piece beverage packaging. The submitted product is bottled and marketed by the British St Peter’s Brewery, which also owns the license for it. The design of the can shows the original Star Wars Stormtrooper costume. It has been developed in 1976 by Andrew Ainsworth at the Shepperton Design Studios.
It happened on October 28, 2020. The eagerly awaited results were determined. Envases was declared the happy winner of the ‘Silver Award’, achieving second place within its category. The jury was won over by the impressive graphic design of the mini keg. “We feel very honored by this award” says Michael Tischler, project manager at Envases Marketing department. „It proves that our kegs offer an impactful advertising space for breweries and are able catch the attention of the consumer by their appealing design. We liked the design of the keg so much, we just had to submit it for the competition. We are glad that the jury liked it aswell.”
It is not the first prize for Envases at the Can of the Year Awards. The company received four awards within the past six years, among them one Bronze, two Silver and in 2016 even a Gold Award. Quality and design form the foundation for the recognition within the industry at the Can of the Year Awards. It is pleasant prove that Envases Öhringen is on the right path with its product policy.
